Steven Knight Gives Updated Progress on 'Peaky Blinders' Film
Beginning to shape up for 2024.
Following the news that two Peaky Blinders spinoffs are currently in the works at Netflix, creator Steven Knight has revealed that the scrip for the upcomming film is almost finished.
After season six of the show brought the characters to the 1930s, the film is set to jump forward in time again, using the World War II as the backdrop. Cillian Murphy is said to reprise his main role as Thomas Shelby, while Paul Anderson returns as Arthur Jr. In a recent interview with Radio Times, Knigh revealed that the movie will begin filming this year, if all goes to plan to target a 2025 release date, “I’m just working on the final bits of it at the moment…The plan is to start shooting that in the middle of [2024].”
While no official plot details have been revealed, the cast is likely to see many familiar faces return. The show first aired in 2013 and takes audiences on a journey led by Murphy, who plays the leader of the titular gangers family in Birmingham, England in the 1920s. It remains to be seen when the movie will begin filming.
